We provide a range of commonly requested events particularly within the Criminal Justice and Forensic Mental Health sectors. Increasingly Training Managers are being asked to put on events which directly enhance staff skills in working with problematic behaviours in their client group. This capacity building aims to:

• Introduce new approaches
• Enhance existing skills
• Offer different ways of working
• Provide coaching through practice
• Give feedback to enhance learning
• Improve interactive skills

Overall our aim is to offer a theoretical base for particular methods of work, allow time to practice and ensure the applicability of the skills in the workplace.

Our events include:

Motivational Techniques…

are increasingly used in everyday interaction for staff working with groups and individuals. Our courses provide a firm foundation to develop and build staff skills in this area.

Pro-Social Modelling…

is essential to ensure a positive working relationship is built from the beginning of staff members contact with either groups or individuals. Our courses establish and develop this.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy…

offers a unique opportunity to try out a range of questioning and interactive skills focused around a short and intensive intervention. Our courses focus on practical applications.

Drugs Awareness…

is increasingly necessary for workers in a range of organisations. Our courses are tailored to individual need and include general and specific information and intervention methods.

Interviewing Skills…

new and established staff members benefit from focusing on their specific initial contact. Our courses look at the core skills in interviewing, from opening up to closing down.

Group work…

Skills are needed by more and more staff who are engaged in tutoring and running groups and programmes.
Our courses identify core skills in this important area and develop these.

Supervision Skills…

The increase in numbers of offenders on supervision in the community and the need to ensure compliance means that skills to enhance this are crucial. Our courses focus on this area.

Case Assessment…

particularly of the offence and possible cognitive distortions is key to designing the appropriate intervention. Our courses offer offence analysis and cognitive restructuring input and practice.

Working with Diversity…

is increasingly recognised as fundamental to our work with individuals. Our courses ensure that this is addressed by looking at organisational culture and individual perspectives.
