Interviewing Skills

These courses can be run over 1 – 3 days depending on the level of input and practice required. At a basic level these courses examine the core skills in interpersonal work, including active listening, questioning, and opening and closing interventions. They draw upon a range of theorists and practitioners to give participants the opportunity to develop their individual skills within an effectiveness framework.

At the more sophisticated level they examine how staff can deal more positively with difficult situations and working with participants to address their practice.

These courses can be assessed requiring staff to meet the specific competency criteria set for their role. This assessed training requires a minimum of one days follow up course, but may include annual booster days to ensure ongoing skills development, especially in the light of developing job roles within organisations and the pressures on staff to work flexibly across client groups.
