Solution Focussed Brief Therapy (SFBT)

These courses are 2 day events with optional follow-up days to consolidate learning in the work context. This training aims to offer participants an opportunity to examine the rationale, approach & application of SFBT in a practice setting. They are aimed to enable participants to find out about the theory & practice of SFBT, to allow them to practise the core approaches involved and to consider how to apply these in their particular work setting.

These courses look at the development of “brief therapies”, setting current practice in an historical context. They focus on the development of a solution focussed approach within interviews and draw on key exponents of the method including the original work of De Shazer and other contributors to the literature and practice such as O’Connell.

During the courses participants are encouraged to examine the appropriateness of such approaches to their area of work, practise with the core skills including a clear focus on the importance of the first and subsequent interviews and consider implementation issues throughout.
