By agreement with relevant programme authors and national agencies we are able to provide a range of structured intervention programmes to meet the needs of a range of special populations. Our programmes share the following characteristics:

  • Based on existing research evidence drawing particularly on the principles of ‘What Works’.
  • Cognitive Behavioural based
  • Both group and individual based interventions available
  • Structured and semi-structured design
  • Comprehensive training packages tailored to organisational need
  • Training available to wide range of staff roles
  • Manualised materials provided with all training

Our provision of programmes is based upon our significant experience of delivering training across both the criminal justice system and forensic mental health settings over the last fifteen years. Structured programmes have become a key component of agency work in both areas and have served to enhance both the consistency and content of provided intervention across an increasingly wide range of client need areas. We are pleased to be able to offer training to Prisons, Probation, Drug units, Mental Health, Personality Disorder, and other special focus units on the following specific programmes along with organisational support and staff training to support other programmes as organisational agreements allow.

COVAID (Control of Violence for Angry Impulsive Drinkers)

Targets in particular the behaviour commonly referred to as ‘binge drinking’. COVAID is available in a variety of formats for use in a range of settings including group and individual work.

ASRO (Addressing Substance Related Offending)

Substance misuse programme for use in working with offenders or those at risk of offending where problematic substance use is a significant mediating factor

Stop and Think!

Semi-structured programme for use in group or individual settings, where skills of social problem solving are learnt and applied by exploring participants current life experiences

PSST (Problem Solving Skills Training)

Structured groupwork programme teaches social problem solving skills and applies these to problem behaviours including offending and associated criminogenic need areas.

All of the above programmes can be targeted upon offence specific or on generalised problematic behaviours. Their potential application is thus both within and external to criminal justice services. We also provide generic skills training for delivery staff as a separate event where required:

Programme tutor skills

Provides an opportunity to look looks at core skills of presentation, facilitation, motivation integration of target learning. Can be targeted at either group or one-to-one based programmes

Please note that current research in a criminal justice setting indicates very positive outcomes for clients completing programmes but equally an important need for agencies to both target and support programme delivery across the contact period. We are able to offer additional training to support the development of these processes including treatment and programme manager training as required.

“ I have collaborated with delight training services for the past 5 years to develop training for alcohol and drug programmes. I have been impressed by the clarity of the training objectives, the variety of methods used in training, and the highly positive feedback from trainees. As a programme author, I want my programmes to be run by well-informed, highly skilled, and positive practitioners. People trained by delight training services have an abundance of these qualities, and my programmes benefit enormously as a result."
